Painting: Green – Finished

All finished. This painting was entered and accepted into the Thompson Nicola Shuswap National juried show held in Kamloops in April 2011. Presently I’m an active member in the FCA which means I can enter shows. Each acceptance into a juried show counts toward accreditation in the Canadian Federation of Artists, I’m halfway there to earning an AFCA after my name. I think it takes 8 acceptances over 4 years.

Green 24 x 24 Acrylic on Canvas Copyright M. Budreau 2011

Painting: Green 1

This sketch became an acrylic painting, that was done last winter. When using acrylics the starting materials are different from oils. First, the sketch is drawn using a special type of coloured pencil that can wipe off with a damp cloth and is also erasable. Then I go over the lines with a special type of marker that will show up through the first coat or two of transparent paint without smearing or fading. What you see here shows after the marker has been applied.

Donation was accepted!

I submitted a painting for the Kamloops Art Gallery Gala Auction – they reserve the right to refusal and didn’t refuse mine – yay!
Maybe someday I will exhibit at KAG, regardless, I’m happy to support Canadian art in Kamloops with this donation. Will issue a post later with the results of this piece – ahhh!

INFO: The Kamloops Art Gallery at the corner of 5th and Victoria Street is having it’s 23rd Gala Art Auction Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 7pm. The artwork can be viewed at the gallery starting Sunday September 18. Please go have a look! more info at: http://www.kag.bc.ca/fundraisingevents.htm
