Filling My Creative Vessel

I probably don’t do it enough; take the time to fill my creative vessel. I tend to pour until empty, then I get the yearning for ‘boot time.’ Yesterday was one of those days to get out in the woods or expose myself to the open sky that begs to be dreamed at. Huz is on call this weekend and was out, so with camera in hand I went forth, not far, but far enough to clear my mind of house hold obligations and the ever present question, “What will I paint next?”
On the trail, I slip into a slow pace of looking at everything from small to tall. In a couple hours of steady attentiveness from all my senses I don’t cover much distance, there is so much to see when really looking and soaking up the naturalness, the quiet and the light. I only went home when I did because the 2 gig card was full – damn!
Lately, at night (our bedroom window is open even though the temps drop to freezing now) the coyotes sing, they sound close-by, their voices carry on silky night air, but yesterday it was obvious they sing from more than a km away. One place they favour is where I walked. Their tracks were most everywhere I went, also those of deer and a small bear. I discounted them being dog tracks since no human tracks were alongside and the size was consistently small. All this activity had occured since late Wednesday afternoon when a good male rain (Navajo description) and hail showered the land. Here’s some pics. The view north, a cute snake, a hitch hiker, and a coyote hwy.
